The Nia Arts Alliance   precedes the Nia Coffeehouse by a year.  Its definition has morphed over the years as well.  Initially the Art Alliance was formed between the Office of Associate Director of Community Engagement, the President, CEO of Art On Wheels and the East Cleveland Adult Training Center in East Cleveland Ohio, one of eight county centers belonging to the Cuyahoga Board of Developmental Disailities serving the needs of people with developmental disabilities.  The triad connected the arts to people with disabilities through tours and art classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, later even entering art pieces from this into mainstream judged artshows and displays at libraries and banks.
